Bonnie L. Johnson, 82, of Viborg passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026, at her home.
Bonnie Lou Anderson was born on August 12, 1943, to Otto and Jessie (Smith) Anderson on a farm west of Parker. She graduated from Parker High School in 1961. After high school, she worked in a grocery store and then at the ASCS office in Parker. On April 7, 1967, she was united in marriage to Lowell Lee Johnson, who farmed west of Viborg, SD. In 1970, Karla Lynn was born and in 1977, Kyle David was born.
Bonnie filled her days by cooking dinners for the farm workers, doing the bookkeeping, mowing the lawn and her favorite pastime was writing letters or sending greeting cards to her friends and family. For those of us who receive them, we can attest she was notorious for her small handwriting. She also enjoyed reading books and newspapers, doing cross-stitch, putting puzzles together, watching tv, and especially going to town. It was a common joke that if you couldn't find Bonnie at 2 o'clock it must be "tomato time" because every day she would go into town because she needed a tomato. She also enjoyed traveling to the Black Hills, visits with Kyle, spending time with her grandkids, her cats, and her little dog Tuffy.
Grateful for having shared her life are her two children, Kyle (Michael), Seattle, WA, Karla Johnson, Centerville, SD, two grandchildren, Leah (Britt) Ostrem, Centerville, SD, Logan, Viborg, SD, two great grandchildren, Lydia Hope and Baron Palmer Ostrem.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lowell, her parents, Otto and Jessie Anderson and her brother Gary Anderson.
