David Montgomery, 74, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away on March 4, 2026, after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease.
David was born on June 10, 1951, in Vermillion, South Dakota, the third of three children born to Vincent and Lois Montgomery. He graduated from Vermillion High School in 1969 and went on to earn his degree from the University of South Dakota in 1973.
David built a successful career as a controller for Price Waterhouse in Milwaukee. Later in life, following his retirement, he met and married Janet Paula Wolter-Montgomery. Together, David and Janet moved to Danbury, Wisconsin, where they owned and operated Dufour's Campground, building a life and business they were proud of. In later years, they split their time between the campground in Wisconsin and Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Janet passed away in January 2023 at the age of 71.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Lois Montgomery, and his sister, Ann (Montgomery) Leamer. He is survived by his sister, Sue (Montgomery) Wolken, and many nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward.
David will be remembered for his dedication to his family and his hard work, but also for the simple joys in his life — a round of golf, traveling the open road with Janet in their camper, and the companionship of his dogs, most recently his beloved Sadie.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 27th from 1pm to 2pm at Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion.
