Daniel Vern Dobney passed away after a brief illness at the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD on January 11, 2022. Daniel was born January 23, 1941 in South Sioux City, Nebraska to Glen W. and Helen L. (Treadway) Dobney. He received his education in South Sioux City and graduated in 1959 from South Sioux City High School.
After high school Daniel married Connie Cornish in 1959. They had 3 children Kimberly, Renai, and Bryon. They divorced and on April 4, 1980 Daniel remarried to Beverly Taylor Kerr. Together they raised 4 children Jayson, Suzanne, Nathan and Jennifer.
Daniel had various jobs throughout his life including working for the railroad company, fixing typewriters and selling greeting cards out of Sioux City, IA. Daniel loved spending time with his family and enjoyed watching his grandkids grow through the years. You could always count on Daniel to bring tears of laughter to all who met him.
Daniel is survived by his wife Beverly from Vermillion, seven kids Kim McDonald, Renai (Steve) Kuykendall, Bryon (Eileen) Dobney, Jayson Kerr Dobney, Suzanne (Scott) Herbold, Nathan (Emirse) Dobney, and Jennifer (James) Wittrock Dobney: sisters Norma Troge and Francis (Pete) Mortenson and brother Charles Dobney, and 19 Grandkids, and 6 great grandkids.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim, and sisters Dorothy, June, Edna, and Betty. Daniel enjoyed seeing kids laughing and having fun. The family has decided to donate a shade tree at Bliss Point park in Vermillion, SD as a memorial. Donation can be sent to Beverly Dobney c/o memorial to 1024 West Clark St Vermillion SD 57069.
