Gene Jerome Eli

Gene Jerome Eli, 66, of Yankton SD, passed away, tragically, on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. A Memorial Service will be held at Hansen Funeral Home (Irene) on Thursday, May 16, 2024, beginning at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Burial of ashes will be held at a later date.
 
 Gene was born in Viborg, SD on September 10, 1957, to Albert and Ruth (Bratberg) Eli. He touched the lives of many with his warm and adventurous spirit. He was a man dedicated to hard work, starting as a self-employed contractor in construction then later joining Concrete Materials, where he worked until retiring at the age of 52 due to health complications.
 
Gene's laughter and jokes made him the life of every party, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. He loved attending auctions and searching for rare treasures, along with his passion for motorcycles and tending to his yard and garden, showcasing his vibrant and inquisitive nature.
 
Gene is survived by his loving daughter Tina (Eric) Olson, Baltic, SD; and their children: Morgan (Carter), Wesley, Hailee, Gage, Kaiden, and Holly; as well as two great-grandchildren. Brothers Marvin and Ray Eli, sisters Linda Bak and Lemay Crissey, along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whose lives he enriched with his presence.
