Janice Bremer, 75, of Vermillion, SD passed away Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Sanford Vermillion Care Center in Vermillion.
Janice was born on March 28, 1951 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. At the age of 2 she was lovingly adopted by Howard and Blanche Bremer. She grew up on the family farm outside of Vermillion with her siblings Carol and Brian, where she enjoyed a wide variety of 4-H activities and playing with her Bremer cousins. She attended the Prairie Bell School in rural Vermillion through the eighth grade and graduated from Vermillion High School in 1970.
Throughout her life she worked at various jobs, bringing a strong work ethic and a cheerful smile to each place she worked. One of her favorite jobs was in the cafeteria at Vermillion High School, where she enjoyed interacting with the students.
In her free time, Janice enjoyed the simple things in life. She could often be found watching westerns and WWE wrestling on TV and she always appreciated a good meal. She had a particular fondness for broasted chicken, sweets, and Diet Coke and she loved the color purple. Those who knew her will remember her bright smile and her joyful laugh when something struck her fancy.
Janice is survived by her cousins Curtis (Sue) Jopling, Paul (Ruth) Bremer, Patricia (James) Doohen, and Gayle (Dick) Johnson, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, and her cousin Jim Jopling.
