John Van Beek

John Van Beek age 86, of Volin, South Dakota went to his Heavenly Home on August 4th, 2025. He passed following an accident on his farm near Volin.

John was born on April 10th, 1939, in Rock Valley, Iowa. He attended school in northwest Iowa. Following school, John worked on his family farm until he joined the United States Air Force where he served 4 years with the air police, most of them being served in Germany. After returning home John married Phyllis Schoellerman on October 15th, 1965. They proceeded to live in Hawarden, IA, Centerville, SD, and eventually settled on their forever home at the acreage near Volin. Where they raised four children Pamela, Todd, Travis, and Lacey. After Phyllis’ passing in 2016, John remarried Sandy Morrison on January 20th, 2020.

John enjoyed farming, playing cards especially pinochle with his “pinochle bunch”, traveling, going to the casino, and above all else spending time with his family and friends.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, first wife Phyllis, two brothers, and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife Sandy, sons: Todd (Casey) his children Zachery, Levi & Tate; Travis (Becky) his children Brody & Lanie. His daughters: Pam (Roger) Ness and her children Heather, Tiffany, & Joey; Lacey (Aaron) Clements and her children Jaiker & Zyanna, and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister MaryAnn Zahrt of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
