Kay Gordon

May 22, 1944 — October 15, 2022

Viborg

Kay Jorgensen Gordon, the daughter of Berl (BC) and Helen Jorgensen, was born May 22nd, 1944. Kay passed away suddenly on October 15th, 2022, at the age of 78, in Deadwood, SD surrounded by family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday October 22, 2022, at the Swan Lake Christian Camp with Visitation one hour prior to the service. Committal service will be at Rosehill Cemetery, Viborg SD immediately following the service.

Kay graduated from Washington High school in 1962. After graduating, Berl took Kay and Aunt Linda to Northern State College and made them promise to not marry any farmers from Eureka, SD. Her career took her to various locations, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Colorado Springs, CO; Sacramento, CA. In the summer of 1985, her family moved back to Sioux Falls, SD where she worked alongside her father at Jorgensen Supply.

On November 17th, 1973, she married her late husband, Dale Gordon. They enjoyed spending their time together dancing at the Swan Lake Pavilion and watching their children and grandchildren grow up at Swan Lake.

After her husband, Dale, passed away she joined her friend Larry Vanloh in both Sioux Falls and Mission, Texas. During the winter, Kay spent much of her time in Texas molding raw clay with her hands into beautiful, unique designs and teaching ceramic-clay classes as well as creating stained glass artwork. Specifically, two stained glass angels for her grandchildren’s weddings. After her winters in Texas, Kay looked forward to spending her summers at Swan Lake, SD with her children, grand-children, great-grandchildren, and friends.

She had various health issues in her life, but her positive attitude was much admired. She had no complaints, just kept going forward into her next fun adventure.

Welcoming Kay into heaven are her parents Berl and Helen Jorgensen; husband, Dale Gordon; brothers, Steve and Brad Jorgensen, and her lovely dogs.

Grateful for having shared her life which included her friend, Larry Vanloh; sister Jan (Dave) Buehner; sister-in-laws, Sue Jorgensen, Cheryl Jorgensen; sons, Robbie Ness, Dale (Darcey) Gordon, Dean (Julie) Stenjem, Edward (Melinda) Ness; daughters, Sherry (Gary) Johnson, Toni (Shon) Fjerstad, Nichole (Jon) Quist, and Sassy, her dog that gave her much comfort; grandchildren, James Price, Matt Johnson, Brittney (Cheyenne) Quist, Jared (Sarah) Ness, Jenna Ness, Reece (Bailey) Miller, Steffanie (Evan) Murphy, Josh Stenjem, Dylan Gordon, Addisyn Ness, Danica Gordon, Isabella Ness, Hank Fjerstad; great-grandchildren, Emma Luden, Aaliyah War Bonnet, Destynee War Bonnett, Ana Johnson, Noah Ness, and Gunner Miller; friends, (aunt) Linda, and her great friends from Texas.

Kay lived her life to the fullest with an extraordinary zest for fun. As her daughter, Nichole once said, “Don’t let the dust lay on your shoes.” Kay was a creative, fun-loving, family-centered woman, who lived every day to the fullest. She had such a fun and loving spirit that will be greatly missed by many.
