Kimberly J Olson

Kimberly J. (Held) Olson, 64, of rural Burbank, SD passed away unexpectedly at her home on August 2, 2023. A Memorial gathering will be held at Hillside Community Church in Vermillion on Friday, August 11, 2023 beginning at 6:00PM

Kimberly was born on September 29, 1958, to Thomas and Beverly (Oetken) Held in Lemars, IA. She went to Grade school and Highschool in Hinton, IA. Following high school, she attended and graduated with honors from Western Iowa Community College studying accounting.

Kimberly married Michael Olson at Burnsville Lutheran Church on October 14, 1983, and from this marriage were born twin boys, Alex Michael, and Andrew Mitchell. They resided in Elk point until later moving to their current home in rural Burbank, SD.

She worked as an accountant/bookkeeper at Bomgaars in Sioux City, IA before returning home to care for their two sons.  
She was a devoted Christian and spent most of her time studying the bible and spending time with her family.  

Preceding her in death were her parents Thomas Held and Beverly (Oetken) Held, her son Alex.
Survivors Include her husband, Michael Olson of Burbank,SD; Son Andrew (Mary) Olson of Vermillion, SD and grandchild Isaac Michael; two sisters: Becky (Merle) Shay of Lemars, IA; Renee (Mike) Loutsch of Hinton, IA and one brother Scott (Teresa) Held of Hilton, IA.
