Lary Duane Peterson

Lary Duane Peterson of Yankton, formerly of Wakonda, SD passed away on December 7, 2025, at the age of 84. Lary was born on August 22, 1941, in Luverne, MN to Robert and Genevieve Peterson. His mother passed away in 1949. He and his father moved to Clark, SD where Lary stayed with an aunt and uncle while his father went to work on the dam at For Randall in South Dakota. He then lived in Vermillion and later settled in Wakonda. While in Wakonda, he could be seen around town mowing and raking leaves. He enjoyed going to the convenience store and talking to his brother-in-law Omar Lebert. In 2018, Lary moved to an apartment in Yankton. He was grateful for all the new friends he met there. Lary was a very private person and wished to have no services. His inurnment will be in Union Cemetery in Wakonda at a later date.
