Lois Erickson

Lois Erickson, 102, of Vermillion, SD passed away at her residence on Monday, April 8, surrounded by her family.

Lois Nutwick was born on April 18, 1921, in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of Norwegian immigrants, to Louis and Bessie (Midthun) Nutwick.  She grew up in the Minneapolis area and was active in Trinity Lutheran Church of Minnehaha Falls where she met her future husband Maurice Erickson who was attending Augsburg College. They married in her home church on September 2, 1941. Lois attended the Minnesota School of Business for one year and McPhail School of Music. 
 She loved music and served as choir director and organist for the Dalesburg Lutheran Church for many years.

Two daughters, Kathy, and Helen were born in Minneapolis, before the family moved to Vermillion, SD where Maurice and Lois farmed and added Margaret and Joe to the family. When Maurice retired, they built a home in town in 1998, and moved off the farm.

Lois is survived by her children, Kathy (Don) Snyder of Deer Park, WA; Helen (Loren) Larson of Boise, ID; Margaret (Mick) Schlisner of Litchfield MN; Joe (Susie) Erickson of Mineral City, OH. Seven Grandchildren: Elizabeth Jackson, Lance Larson, Lori Larson, Heidi Larson, Jonathan (Katri) Negron, Brita (Tom) Culberson, Seth (Belinda) Erickson, as well as 14 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in passing were her parents, Louis, and Bessie (Midthun), sister Betsy Midthun, and her husband of 74 years, J. Maurice Erickson.

The funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, April 18^th at the Dalesburg Lutheran Church, with burial in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Wednesday with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM all at the Hansen Funeral Home in Vermillion.  Donations can be made to the Dalesburg Lutheran Cemetery.  HansenFuneralHome.com.
