Marie Ouellette

     Marie Ouellette, 76, of Vermillion, SD passed away on Tuesday, October 10 peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.
     Marie Brown was born December 2, 1946, in Vermillion to Densel and Lorraine (Kubik) Brown.  She attended Vermillion schools and received her Registered Nursing Degree from the University of South Dakota.  She married Richard Ouellette on May 8, 1963, in Vermillion.
     Her career included nursing at the Vermillion Hospital where she worked as a Respiratory Therapist, RN, and a Cardiac Rehab Nurse.  She enjoyed revitalizing rental properties with her family.  She and her late husband Richard started the Furniture Parlor in Vermillion, selling furniture until his passing.  For the last 30 years, she and her son Chad enjoyed working together owning and operating Total Flooring.
     She enjoyed helping people, and thoroughly enjoyed the customers.  She loved to go on bus tours with all her friends, and especially liked “Mystery Tours”, where she never knew where they were going.  “The trip is sometimes better than the destination.”
     Marie loved her family, and loved spending time with all of them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her parents Densel and Lorraine, husband Richard, Daughter Denise, a brother Tom Brown, and a sister Marj Kjose.
     Marie is survived by her son Chad (Sarah) Ouellette of Vermillion, daughters; Dawn (Jessie) Lay of Beebe, AR, Deborah (David) Hauger of Volin, SD, Danell (Travis) Kindt of Vermillion.  Grandchildren; Justin (Angelique) Hauger, James (Sarah) Lay, Matthew (Ashley) Lay, Heather (Evan) Palmer, Katrina (David) Poppens and Peter Hauger.  Great grandchildren; Lilliann Lay, Nathaniel Lay, Chevelle Hauger, Maverick Poppens, Ben DuBois, Kaylin DuBois, and unborn great grandchild Palmer.
     Funeral Mass will be 10:30 AM Saturday, October 14 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion with burial to follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Vermillion.  Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Friday, October 13 with a prayer service at 7:00 PM all at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Vermillion.
