Vermillion

Vermillion, SD: The memorial service for Bill Pike will be on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church of Vermillion. Pastor Steve Ford will officiate the service.

William Robert Pike, 65, of Vermillion, passed away on April 25, 2023 while in hospice care at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, SD.

Bill was born January 21, 1958 to William and Ardyce (Melton) Pike in Brookings. He attended LaRoche School for first grade where his father was his teacher and then went to school in Pierre. He went on to graduate from Vermillion High School in 1976. Bill earned his Electrical Construction and Maintenance diploma from Mitchell Vocational Technical School in 1988.

Bill married Cathy Mitchell in 1978 and they had a son, Jesse. In 1982, Bill married Ann Bisson and they had six children: Billy, Angela, Daniel, Benjamin, Jordan, and Jenna.

Bill’s first job was delivering the Rapid City Journal with his brother Gene while they lived in Pierre. He had various jobs including working as an electrician and a cook.

Bill loved music and was even a roadie traveling with the band Zion in his young adult years. He enjoyed playing guitar. He was a talented artist and liked to draw and create comics. He also enjoyed gardening and having plants in his home.

Bill is survived by his children Jesse Pike of Vermillion, Bill (Heather) Pike of Sioux Falls, Angela (Michael) Ellingson of Sioux Falls, Daniel Pike of Brandon, Benjamin (Gabby) Pike of Sioux Falls, Jordan Pike of Nijmegen, Netherlands, Jenna Pike of Cleveland, TN, his grandchildren Atika, Clara, Isaac, David, Haddie, Avery, Emma, Graham, and Vivian, his siblings Gene (Julie) Pike of Chester, Joan Nauertz of Vermillion, Leslie (Jerry) Fickbohm of Vermillion, Gale (Brandee) Pike of Vermillion, his uncle and aunts, Ray and Janice Pike of Draper, Gloria Skyberg of Rapid City, Margret Pike of Denver, CO and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Bill was preceded in death by his father William, mother Ardyce, brother Kenny, brother-in-law Jim Nauertz, as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents.
